Finalists Celebrate First Luxury Awards

Packaging manufacturers and designers are celebrating after the shortlist for the first ever Luxury Packaging Awards was announced.

Packaging designers and developers from the likes of Procter & Gamble Prestige, Selfridges, Space Brands and Diageo met at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel to judge more than 60 competition entries. The winners will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony on September 29 at London’s Underglobe on the South Bank. It will be attended by packaging manufacturers, developers and a host of big industry names.

Finalists Celebrate First Luxury Awards

The Luxury Packaging Awards 2014 will mark the start of the Luxury Packaging and the Packaging Innovations London shows, which are being put on by easyFairs on September 30 to October 1 at Islington’s Business Design Centre.

The awards, organised by Packaging News in collaboration with the Luxury Packaging conference and show, aim to highlight the quality, innovation and design of some of the most impressive packaging on the market today. The shortlisted entrants include big-name brands and products in a range of categories.

Black Bottle Whisky and Glenfiddich 38YO are amongst the finalists in the Best Drinks Primary Pack category. Other nominees include Cutty Sark Prohibition Edition, Devin and Tanqueray No. Ten.

In the Drinks Secondary Pack group, shortlisted products include Champagne Bollinger RD, Cognac Camus Family Legacy, Glengoyne 25-year-old Highland single-malt Scotch whiskey and Inchmurrin. The other finalists are Johnny Walker Explorer’s Club Collection and Nicolas Feuilatte Gold and Black.

Rogue by Rihanna, Tralala and Tresor Repack have all been shortlisted in the Perfume Pack category, while Absolut Originality, Ballantines and Gelato Box are all up for the Innovation of the Year award.

The Luxury Food Pack prize is contended by big names such as the Fortnum & Mason House Blends and Iconic Tea range, the Tesco Finest confectionary range and Marks & Spencer’s Australian Caramelised Macadamia Nuts. Other finalists include the Facet Egg, Fox’s Chocolatey, the Chocolate Garden Luxury Handmade Chocolates and Gelato.

The Fever Wig Collection, Jessica McCormack’s large jewellery box, the Meister ring box and Accurist’s new watch box are all in line for the Jewellery & Accessories Pack prize, and Bombay Sapphire, Cointreau Kiosk, the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Box, the David Yurman Patron holiday pack and Penhalligon’s Musical Christmas Boxes are finalists in the Special Edition group.

The Cosmetics & Personal Care Pack prize category features Baylis & Harding, Evoka, GENEU, Japonesque Colour, Mark Hill, Sanctuary and Temple Spa Cartons.

There will also be prizes announced on the night for Luxury Tobacco Pack and the Shopping Bag of the Year, and the Best in Show prize will be awarded.
